Two new restaurant concepts have signed on for space in Boardwalk at Towne Lake, a waterfront commercial development in the Cypress area.

The maître d’ at Tony’s Restaurant for the last eight years, Jason Howard, will open Jaxton’s, a contemporary American restaurant serving “upscale comfort food,” according to an announcement. The concept, named after Howard’s four-year-old son, will help fill a need for high-end dining in the suburbs, he said.

“As a Cypress resident, I was tired of always having to drive so far, or having to take an expensive cab, to go out for a great dinner,” Howard said.

The 150,000 square-foot retail and office project being developed by Caldwell Cos. is meant to serve the some 3,000 residents of the Towne Lake planned community south of Texas 290 and west of Barker Cypress.

The second restaurant, Taisho, will specialize in the hibachi and teppanykai style of cooking. The Japanese concept is owned by the same team that has opened 11 Shogun Grill restaurants around Texas.

Additionally, Copper Creek Orthodontist, a longtime northwest Houston medical office, will relocate to the Boardwalk.

The developer also confirmed the following tenants reported in HBJ last week will also join the lineup: Mod Pizza, World of Beer, Land of a Thousand Hills, Orangetheory Fitness, Nails of America, Reserve Salon and Spa, Massage Heights and Texas Children’s Pediatrics.

Development of the 2,400-acre Towne Lake began in 2006.
